Tormented soul of a Genius

This represents the tormented life of one of the reatest clasical musicians of all time Ludwig Van Beethoven. He fell in and out of depressive spell but always found his way back through his music. he started loosing his hearing in his 20s but went completely deaf in his 40s.  The striking part of this piece is the deeply gouged out surface which represents that point in his life when he used to scratch the top of his piano in what seemed to be an attempt to claw back his hearing the way a lion claws back at its prey.
